This library, in Charlotte NC, combines elongated forms in both directions to divide interior space. Clad in brick, the windows are shaded by a brick screen on the East and Brick louvres on the west.
The library makes use of orientation to create exterior spaces for reading and socializing.
This project was the original inspiration for my thesis project on brick stacking. I wanted to create more complex brick screens for this project, but with my computational skills at the time I was not able to do so.
