This project was completed during a semester-long study abroad program in Rome, Italy. The program contains a cafe, gym, library, and community pool. This program is very similar to the program an ancient Roman bath would have contained but has been adapted to meet the needs of a modern city.
This watercolor is an early exploration of the design and the ways that the structure would interact with the Aurelian Wall running through the site.
The program includes both space to nurture the mind and body similarly to the program of an ancient roman bath.
The site is located along the Aurelian Wall in Rome. The Aurelian Wall enclosed the ancient roman city and remains in places around the city. The remains of the Acqua Felice run along the top of the wall through the site. The Wall cuts through the site leaving space on the interior and exterior of the wall.
View along the outside of the wall.
View of library and park inside the wall.
