This assignment, from the fall of my 2nd year, was to take a piece of performance and visually represent it creating an infographic from which to base the design of a performance space.
The infographic uses a waveform analysis of volume to show the different parts (main vocal- blue, instrumental- white, chorus- red) and how they cut in and out throughout the song. The background colors represent the emotions of the song.
The building form was duplicated and placed on top of the original form with an auditorium projecting off the side and a ramp mimicking the site and surrounding a courtyard. The building was then placed on the site to align with the grid and projecting over the river.
The infographic model shows the various parts of the song as individual tracks. From the front the parts create a cohesive whole, while from the sides and top each part appears separate and individual. This represents the various ways a community can be seen and how everyone has a different viewpoint.
A section of the waveform was abstracted and simplified to create the main underlying grid. Then time divisions of the song combined with site lines create a secondary grid.
